Long conversations
beside blooming irises -
joys of life on the road

Basho
(1644-1694)

How hard it is to escape from places.  However carefully one goes they hold you - you leave little bits of yourself fluttering on the fences - like rags and shreds of your very life.

Katherine Mansfield

The Long Road Ahead

Walk down this path, my son,
and hold your head up high.
I know the path can be long,
but it's good to give a try.

Walk down this path, my friend,
I have been down there, too.
It's never too late to change,
just as long as you know what to do.

The long road ahead
feel free to take your time.
This is your life, and
it doesn't cost a dime.

The long road ahead
but, nothing comes for free.
Be sure to tread straight and true
but be sure to tread carefully.

Walk down this path, my son
it's not the only one.
You will achieve what you want
as long as you come.

Walk down this path, my friend
I'll be sure to walk beside.
If you know what you search for
then you will always find.

The long road ahead
will put you to the test.
You don't have to walk forever
so come and take a rest.

The long road ahead
wounds can be on the mend.
As long as you know the direction
you will always find the end.

Jersey D. Gibson
